Invisalign![]() What Is Invisalign? You may have heard of Invisalign from a commercial on the television or from an advertisement at our offices. Whatever the case, you may have a lot of questions about Invisalign and how it works. Any questions not covered here can be answered by our knowledgeable team when you come in for an evaluation. Invisalign is a system of clear trays that are created specifically for you to help reshape the alignment of your teeth. While it is important to have an even smile for your own happiness and self-confidence, there are also other reasons why straightening your teeth may be beneficial to your health. In many cases, gum disease can be caused by misalignment of your teeth, because the teeth are crowded together in your mouth, and may also make it more difficult for you to practice good oral hygiene. How Can I Get Invisalign? Our team will start with an evaluation to determine if you are a candidate for Invisalign. If you are, a treatment plan will be created for you that includes pictures, x-rays, and impressions of your teeth. Our skilled doctors will determine how your teeth should be moved to create the best layout and bite pattern in your mouth. Once this has been decided your aligners will be ordered, and once they have arrived, we will bring you in to help you make sure they fit well and explain how to use them. It is important that you are able to keep the aligners in your mouth up to 22 hours a day. You will be able to remove them for normal activities like eating, brushing, and flossing, but the aligners need to stay on your teeth as much as possible to provide the most benefit from the program. You will get a series of trays that progressively move your teeth into an optimal formation. Though it may be possible, you likely will not need to come in for an appointment every time you are ready to move to a new set of trays. The average time for an Invisalign treatment program is 12 to 18 months, though you will likely see results faster than that.
